Action 4 : Investing ourselves in social efforts

Bouygues Immobilier committed to the UN Global Compact

Bouygues Immobilier joined the UN Global Compact in 2006.
This initiative was set up to enable people all over the world to share the benefits of globalisation and to embed the global market in values and practices that are fundamental to meeting socio-economic needs.

By joining the Global Compact, Bouygues Immobilier made a commitment to implement its 10 universal principles and to use the Global Compact to move the company forward. This commitment is illustrated in particular by:

  • - better integrating disabled workers;
  • - encouraging innovation;
  • - providing local residents with more information and explanations when new work sites are opened.

"The defining components of Bouygues Immobilier's strategy are economic performance, business ethics and strict management of the risks linked to our business. Our membership of the Global Compact reflects the continuity of this commitment," said François Bertière, Chairman and CEO of Bouygues Immobilier, in a speech of support for the Global Compact in July 2007.

A wide range of local initiatives

Bouygues Immobilier also provides assistance, on a regular or one-off basis, to a wide range of associations and projects with charitable or humanitarian aims. Examples include rebuilding a village in Indonesia after the tsunami with Fondation de France, and supporting "Rêves", an association for sick children based in the Lyon area in south-east France.

At local and regional level, Bouygues Immobilier is closely involved in a number of cultural events in Saint Denis, outside Paris, Gattières and Aix-en-Provence (southern France). Local personnel often take the initiative for this sort of event and are involved in their organisation.

Collective support for France's Telethon

In 2004, 2005 and 2006, Bouygues Immobilier made a major contribution to the Telethon by supporting a Tour de France cycle race by its employees. Through this event, Bouygues Immobilier and its partners raised €278,892 for the AFM, France's myopathy association.
With almost €1 million raised in three years, Bouygues Immobilier stands as the fourth-biggest contributor to the Telethons in 2004, 2005 and 2006.

The company is currently developing other projects and sponsorship ideas with a view to further expanding its interaction with the world around it.
